Solar & Battery

Power you actually use, stored for when you need it.

System design starts with twelve months of your actual usage, not a brochure figure. Rooftop solar, battery storage and the switchboard work to support it.

How we size a system

Usage first, hardware second.

01

Usage first

We look at twelve months of bills and interval data before recommending anything.

02

Roof and switchboard check

Orientation, shading, roof condition and whether the board needs upgrading.

03

System design

Array layout, inverter and battery sizing, with the numbers behind it.

04

Install and commission

Panels set out square, cabling run clean, system commissioned and monitored.

What this covers
  • —System design off twelve months of your real usage, not a template
  • —Rooftop solar on tile, Colorbond and metal deck
  • —Battery storage, including backup circuits so part of the house stays on in an outage
  • —Fronius inverters and Sigenergy batteries
  • —Switchboard work priced with the system, not sprung on you mid-install
  • —Metering and network connection handled in house, because we are Level 2 accredited
  • —Commissioned, monitored and handed over with the paperwork done
Common questions
How big a system do I need?
That depends on how much power you use and when you use it, which is why we start with twelve months of your bills and interval data rather than a standard size. A household that is empty all day wants a different system to one with someone home running the air conditioning. We will show you the numbers behind the recommendation so you can see why it is that size and not a bigger one.
Will my solar keep the house on in a blackout?
Not on its own. Grid connected solar is required to shut down during an outage so it cannot feed power back into lines someone may be working on. To keep running you need a battery with backup wired in, and that has to be designed in from the start: specific circuits are nominated to stay live, not the whole house. If riding out a blackout matters to you, say so early, because it changes the design.
Is a battery actually worth it?
Sometimes, and we will tell you when it is not. It depends on how much of your own solar you are currently exporting instead of using, what your retailer pays for that export, and whether keeping the lights on in an outage is worth something to you on its own. We would rather size the solar properly now and have you add a battery later than sell you one that does not earn its keep.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade too?
Often, yes. Solar and a battery both need their own protected circuits, and plenty of older Sydney boards have neither the capacity nor the space. We check the board before quoting, so any switchboard work is in the price from the start instead of appearing halfway through the install.
What about rebates and feed-in tariffs?
Both change, and feed-in rates differ between retailers, so we will not quote you a figure on a website that might be out of date by the time you read it. We will walk you through what currently applies to your situation when we quote, and we will be straight about it rather than using a best case number to make the system look better than it is.
